Food for Life

Food for Life is the only food recovery program in Halton Region. Each year Food for Life Canada distributes over 1,000,000 pounds of food, all donated by our many generous suppliers. This food, which would have otherwise gone to a landll, has a retail value of over $4 million.

BLOOM Sustainability Leadership Awards

Award Design and Fabrication

BLOOM is very excited to partner with Stacklab on the design and fabrication of the BLOOM Sustainability Leadership Awards. Stacklab is a design and production studio in downtown Toronto, "inspired by the exploration of material and of process". The enthusiasm, intelligence and inspired creativity that Stacklab applies to the design makes these unique and special artifacts.

The award has a unique 'field' etched on two of its surfaces. The field was achieved by photographing a small off-cut piece of heartwood; translating the grain pattern into pixels; and then 'growing' those pixels with a parametric script.

This design represents the integration of sustainability as a process of optimization, growth and change. It shows how a core idea can be re-imagined and transformed, while still maintaining its values and intent.
